Welcome to my SuperProgect - Oldest Map of RUSSIA (1730)!
The oldest map of Russia (1730). This map was created in 1730 by Swedish person – Mr. P.I. van Strahlenberg. This man was a specialist of the Swedish Land Cadastre. He is participated in battle near Poltava, was captivated and banished to Tobolsk. During the Russian captivity, he drew a detailed map of Russia. Probably, he created this map for the espionage purposes of Sweden. On this map of Russia located my city Taganrog (32 years from 1698 year - birth of Taganrog). I think, that is the first fact of occurrence of Taganrog on a map of Russia as city. During my training in the company “National Land Survey of Sweden” (October, 2001), employees of archive have presented me this remarkable map. I have presented a copy of this map to the Taganrog city museum as the important historical exhibit. In really, this is the second fact of occurrence of Taganrog on a map of Russia as city.
